How to Use the Ship Type Converter in ReadyShipper?
The Ship Type Converter allows ReadyShipper to automatically translate incoming ship types into the correct carrier, service, package type, and packaging configuration.
This is useful when orders import with generic shipping methods such as Free Shipping, Expedited Shipping, or other store-specific ship type names that do not directly match a carrier service in ReadyShipper.
To configure the Ship Type Converter:
- Open the Ship Type Converter by going to Automation > Ship Type Converter, or click the wand icon near the upper-left corner of ReadyShipper.
- Make sure the Ship Type Converter is set to On.
- Click + Rule to create a new conversion rule.
- Under Ship Type, enter or select the shipping method as it appears on the incoming order.
- Select the Carrier you want ReadyShipper to use.
- Select the corresponding Service that the incoming ship type should be converted to.
- If needed, configure additional options such as:
- Weight Range — apply the conversion only to shipments within a specified weight range.
- Packaging Filter — further limit when the rule should apply based on packaging.
- Package Type — select the carrier package type that should be used.
- Packaging — assign a specific ReadyShipper packaging option.
- Save the rule and repeat the process for any additional incoming ship types you want to convert.
For example, an incoming ship type of Free Shipping could be mapped to UPS Ground, while Expedited Shipping could be mapped to UPS 2nd Day Air.
Once configured, ReadyShipper will use these mappings to automatically convert matching incoming shipping methods to the appropriate shipping configuration.
Tip: The value entered under Ship Type should match the ship type coming into ReadyShipper from your ecommerce platform or order source.
